Acupressure to Relieve Skin Allergy, Rash, Hives, Eczema or Dermatitis.

Have you ever experienced dry, itchy, burning skin due to an allergy, dermatitis, hives or eczema? If you have, then you know how absolutely miserable it can make you feel.

This past week I had an allergic reaction to iodine and my neck and face broke out. My neck was fire truck red, and I experienced intense itching, burning and tightness. I was absolutely miserable!

The itching was so intense that I felt like grabbing a brush and just scrapping it up and down my neck. I know that may seem extreme to some people, but not to those who have suffered with some kind of skin irritation. At times you feel like you may lose your mind because the itching is literally all-consuming!

Ok, so I didn’t use a brush, but I did give in a few times and scratched the heck out of my neck We all know once we give in and scratch the area, all we do is intensify the itch and irritate the skin more, which can prolong the healing and also could cause infection, but at the time we give in to it, it feels soooo good!

The last time I broke out due to an allergy I was consumed by it. I kept dwelling on how uncomfortable I was, how gross it looked and how miserable I felt. It took days before I actually started using some of the tools that I share on a daily basis with clients and in my videos.

This time as soon as I could feel it coming on, I knew I had the skills to help calm my body down so it could heal faster. I set the intention that I was going to shift my energy around this allergic reaction.

Watch my video and find out what I did!

I used EFT daily. Sometimes I tapped on the feeling of being out of control, the intense itching and burning, my emotions around this happening, the irritation I felt towards myself for not reading labels, my emotions around being seen in public, tuning into the stressors in my life right now, acknowledging that my body thinks it is protecting me and for gratitude when I shifted my emotions and the intensity of the itching.

One of the reasons EFT is so powerful is because you are tapping on meridian points where your energy is stored. A lot of the points used while performing EFT are also used for acupressure, which I also use a lot and have had great results.

I used 4 main acupressure points that are wonderful for irritating skin issues.

  • The Third Eye Point: Located between your eyebrows in the place where the bridge of your nose meets the center of your forehead. By pressing on this point you stimulate the pituitary gland. This is the main endocrine gland which helps in enhancing the condition of the skin all over your body. I would press or massage this point for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Collar Bone Point: Location is about 3 finger widths below the collar bone, you may feel a bit of an indentation or hollow point there. This is a great point to boost your immune system and can help relieve breathing difficulties, coughing, asthma and chest congestion. It stimulates your kidneys. I massaged this for 2 minutes daily.
  • Crooked Pond Point: Located on the top outer end of the elbow crease. This point is affiliated with the large intestine. It helps relieve allergies and is especially great for inflamed skin disorders (hives and rashes) along with itching. This point was extremely sore for me, and I think it provided the most benefit for my face. I would massage and hold this point 2 to 4 minutes a day and then switch to other arm.
  • Three Mile Point: Located below the kneecap on the outside of leg near shin bone. This point will strengthen the whole body and relieve allergies.  It is affiliated with the stomach. I would massage or press for 2 to 3 minutes on each leg.

I truly feel that these acupressure points helped to shorten my recovery time.

I also applied aloe gel to the area and on the first 2 days I even used Desitin. Yep, you heard me right! Baby diaper rash cream!

It contains 40% zinc oxide which works great to calm the burning, itching and redness down. Years ago I had used one I found online that was organic and clear, but I was so desperate I did not have time to wait for it to be delivered. The Desitin definitely proved to be a lifesaver!

It is my belief that when we set the intention to listen to our body and tap into our body’s own natural healing ability, we can play a big part in shifting pain or discomfort out of our body. We can literally heal ourselves much faster by listening to our bodies.

Do you stop and listen to your body when you are experiencing allergy symptoms, cold symptoms, the flu, headaches, body pain, indigestion or any other form of discomfort in your body?

What methods have you used to calm skin allergies down? Please share your experience!

With Love and Gratitude,
