Discover the Power of a Hand Massage!

Our hands are probably one of the most used parts on our body, and we rarely take time to acknowledge that.

Do you feel tension, pain or stiffness in your hands? Maybe they are a bit swollen?

By massaging your hands, you help stimulate the body into healing itself by improving circulation, reducing stress, issues with pain, sleeping, eliminate toxins, stimulates the central nervous system and overall restores balance to your body’s energy system.

According to the study of reflexology, each part of the hand corresponds to a part of your body and by massaging them, you stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system which allows you to begin the healing process.

Below you will find a chart that will give you an idea of which part of your hand corresponds with which body part. You will notice that there are a few different versions of charts if you do a Google search, but for the most part, everyone agrees with the proximity of the locations.

If you are experiencing any physical issues with a body part listed above, I encourage you to try massaging that particular point on your hand that corresponds with that body part.

Here is a great link walking you through step by step on how to perform reflexology on your hands.

There are also  many major meridians that run off the fingertips and around hands so it it a very powerful way to release energy blockages in your system. It immediately produces a relaxation response throughout your body.

I have been massaging my hands every night (and sometimes during the day between working) for over a year, and I can absolutely say it has benefited me in many ways. It definitely helps put my body in a relaxed mode before bed, relieves the tension I carry in my hands from doing so much work on the computer and definitely has contributed to my overall health. Again, I just do a simple massage of each part of my hand, I do not necessarily follow the step-by-step reflexology massage unless I am trying to work on a specific physical issue.

For those of you who are skeptical,  I found a great resource documenting the research on reflexology. You can check it out here

Give it a try! You have nothing to lose and I guarantee if nothing else, it will definitely help you reduce stress and allow your body to be in a calm and relaxed state.

Have you every tried reflexology? What benefits did it provide?
