Energy Exercise to Help Muscle Tension in Low Back

If you sit for long periods of time throughout the day this exercise is for you! It will relieve muscle tension and soreness in your low back. Learn how simple this exercise is by watching the video below!

In Qigong this exercise is called winding the belt channel. The belt channel is the acupuncture meridian that circles your torso like a belt. When you sit for a long time in the same position, the energy in that channel gets stuck or stagnant which can lead to pain and soreness in your low back.

This exercise is also great for women who experience low back pain and menstrual cramps. For best results it would be beneficial for you to starting doing this exercise the week before you know you will be getting your period.

Each time you perform this exercise you are loosening the muscles of your back and abdomen.

The twisting movement should be a controlled gentle twist to your back. When you make this twisting motion it actually squeezes your internal organs which also gives them a message. It also helps with movement of food through your digestive tract.

Try getting up from your chair once every hour or two and do this exercise for a couple minutes. You will be surprised how much relief you will get from such a simple exercise.

Give it a try and let me know how it felt in the comments below!
