Your lymphatic system is probably one of the most overlooked systems in your body. I think that is because most people do not understand how vital this system is to our overall health.

In this article I am going to help you understand how your lymphatic system works, and teach you how to detox your lymph!

The lymphatic system is composed of many tiny lymphatic vessels, capillaries and lymph nodes.

The lymphatic system is considered the body’s drainage system. It helps get rid of toxins, allergens, dead cells and waste. If your lymph becomes stagnant you will be faced with more illness and disease. Poor lymph function is associated with fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, cancer, poor digestion, aches and pains, cellulite, edema and much more.

This past Sunday I  felt really run down, my throat felt a little itchy and I kept sneezing. That next morning I woke up feeling miserable. I had a lot of pressure in my head, my nose and eyes were running like a faucet and I had a dry cough. I immediately began to perform a lymphatic massage to help move this drainage out. By Monday night, I had almost completely cleared the congestion in my head and no more drainage!

You will be amazed how such a simple technique can give you so much relief!

Watch my video and find out how easy it is to do!

Since the lymph does not have a natural pump to keep it moving like the heart, it relies on the relaxation and the contraction of the muscles and joints to move it. Here are some other ways you can keep your lymph moving and boost your immune system.

  • Rebounding! If you are not familiar with that term, it is basically the practice of jumping on a trampoline! I have owned a mini trampoline for over a decade and this simple, fun exercise not only gets your lymph moving but it also provides numerous other health benefits. (That is a whole other post!) The lymph fluid moves through one-way valves, so it always moves in the same direction, the vertical up and down movement of rebounding is an extremely effective way to move lymph.
  • Skin Brushing or Body Brushing. There are special brushes you buy for this that have course bristles. You always brush the skin towards your heart. It will stimulate sweat glands, open pores and gets rid of dead skin cells. It also encourages the movement of lymph which will help get rid of toxins.
  • Drink Plenty of Water. Lymph is about 95% water so making sure you stay hydrated is vital for the lymphatic system. You should be drinking half your weight in ounces of water a day. One of the most common causes of lymph congestion is dehydration.
  • Breathe Deeply! Take a deep breath making sure your abdomen expands and release that breath slowly while your abdomen deflates. Try doing it first thing in the morning for 5 minutes and before you go to bed. This is a simple exercise you can do throughout your day to make sure your lymphatic system is working at its most optimal level!

When your lymphatic system is working well you stay healthy, and if you are ill it can help you regain your health again. It is an amazing system!
