At one time or another each of us has experienced some form of anxiety. It is a horrible feeling because it can make you feel like you have no control over what is happening in your life or body.
Panic attacks are even worse. Although I have never experienced one, I know several people who have, and they say that during the attack they feel like they can’t breathe, may have a heart attack or even die.
Whenever you are experiencing severe anxiety or having a panic attack, the majority of the time you are not in any real danger. Your body is actually being flooded with stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. Those hormones are triggering the response you are having. If you could control the stress response, you could stop the panic attack.
Remember it is never the situation or person that is causing the anxiety, it is your thoughts about it.
